SL protests against screening of Channel-4 film



 Lanka has protested against allowing a Channel-4 documentary titled ‘No fire Zone: The killing fields of Sri Lanka’ to be screened on the sideline of the human rights meeting in Geneva.

Sri Lankan ambassador to the UN in Geneva Ravinatha Aryasinha in a letter to the head of the UNHRC stated that the documentary “contains a narrative that is "discredited, uncorroborated and unsubstantiated.”

He also stated that “the global body could be violating its own rules if the film is screened Friday in Geneva at a meeting hosted by rights groups.”

Teso plans protest at sri lankan deputy mission


-backed Tamil Eelam Supporters’ Organisation (TESO) today announced holding a series of events over the Lankan Tamils issue, including picketing of the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission in Chennai on March 5.

TESO will also hold a meeting in Delhi on March 7 in which various political parties and human rights organisations are expected to participate, TESO member and Dravidar Kazhagam president K Veeramani told reporters after a TESO meeting chaired by DMK chief M Karunanidhi.

“On March five, a picketing of the Deputy High Commission will be held. On the same day DMK and VCK MPs will stage a protest outside the Parliament,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.

The March 7th TESO meeting would discuss various matters pertaining to Sri Lankan Tamils, including their livelihood issues, he said.

He slammed the alleged killing of slain LTTE chief V Prabhakaran’s 12-year-old son Balachandran and said this was indicative of “war-crimes” by the army during the last phase of the Eelam War.

Minister’s son in law acquires 300 acres for a National park


The famous Wilpattu park is affiliated to Wirakkaduwall  and Elewankulama National parks and the proposed Thumbowa National park. A another proposed National park named HVA Farms Pvt Ltd has been as encroached as another National park in an area around 300 acres. It is supposed that a son in law of a Minister in involved in it.

Presently this area is been flattened with heavy machinery like Backho’s. This area has a lot of precious in the likes of Ebony, Satin wood and many other types of expensive trees. When this area is cleared they have blocked for the passage of Elephants found in abundance to travel across this area which they had got so used to.

The area it seems to be cleared of the valuable tress that is causing damage to the forest environment which is against the principles’ of the World heritage protection laws. This in other words is basic flouting of the rigid laws. They have initially built a proper road way.The area is developing unlike a human clash.

The Wirakkaduwall and Elewankulama National parks are in the Puttalam district close to the proposed Rakshithalya Thumbowa and Ralmaduwas are National parks that had been carried as unauthorised national parks in an extent of 35 acres forest area for a number of years. n order to preserve this forest area 225 acres of forest area had been under the purview of the forest conservation authority. It is known that a further 75 acres have been under the forest department.

An Al Qaeda suspect handed over to the CIA in 2003 by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe


In an investigation carried out by the then higher security personnel it has been disclosed that in the year 2003 under the regime of the UNP government had handed over to the CIA a Al Qaeda suspect.

It is learnt that this CIA operation had been carried out on the instructions of the then President of the USA George R.Bush’s intervention. It was under the then Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, Minister Milinda Moragoda and the Defence Secretary Austin Fernando this operation had taken place.

As the then President is also not in her position it is now learnt that the suspect had been taken to an unknown destination without any facts been known.

Iran invites ‘Bodu Bala Sena’ organisation for a tour


The Iran government has invited officially the officials of the ‘Bodu Bala Sena’ organisation office bearers for a tour of their country to show them how they treat the people who belong to other religions are treated in their country. This invitation has been made by the Ambassador of Iran in Sri Lanka Dr N.M.Hasan Fo.

The Ambassador for Iran in Sri Lanka had made a plea with regard to destroying of Buddhist statues in Iran that it is all fake information that had been made public by their enemy countries. He also confirmed that there is no truth in that saying. It had been mentioned that no care for Buddhist statues when they are displayed, the saying is also incorrect. He went on to add that they are preserved in well covered shelves and displayed in the most careful and respected manner.

Health Ministers son Daham assaults DIG’s son Asela



The son of Health Minister’s son Daham Sirisena and the son of Deputy Inspector General of Police in the East Ravi Vidyalankara’s son Asela Vidyalankara’s has had a clash at Kalkuda,Pasikuda beach coast.

The media spokesman for the Police Senior Superintendent of Police Prishantha Jayakody had added that the son of the DIG of East, Asela Vidyalankara has been admitted to the Batticaloa hospital. As his condition was serious he has been brought to the Colombo’s national hospital for treatment.

It is learnt that the son of Minister of heath with a group of friends had posed for a photograph without any clothes on them. As The DIG’s son and his wife had been in the background Asela had made a request not to take such photograph as they too would be captured while in the background. On this issue the Minister’s son had had an argument and had resulted in a clash with fists with the DIG’s son.
